James Wesley Shaw, Jr
James W. Shaw, Jr. was born and raised in Winston Salem, NC. After graduating high school, Jim was blessed to receive a 4 year football scholarship to Livingstone College where he earned second team all-conference his junior year playing offensive tackle.
Jim began his coaching career coaching youth baseball at Browns Mill Park in 1996, 1997 and 1998. In 2001, Jim became the head football coach of the East Cobb Vikings Youth 9u team. The team ended the season with a perfect 13-0 record, winning the Youth Super Bowl . Jim was the first coach to ever win a conference Youth Super Bowl in Vikings history. In 2002, Jim became the assistant head coach with Marlow Stewart with the Marietta Blue Devils where he again helped lead the 10u team to a season ending perfect 13-0 record, winning the Youth Super Bowl as well. In 2008, Jim joined the Shiloh High School coaching staff in Gwinnett county. He coaches the offensive lines on the 9 th grade as well as varsity teams. Jim also coached several years of Youth basketball at Sandy Springs Methodist Church in 1996-2005.
Jim founded the Marietta Tar Heels basketball club in 2001. The organization has expanded over the past 8 years into Gwinnett and Cobb counties . Due to the expansion and grow of the organization, the name was officially changed from the Marietta Tar Heels to the Georgia Tar Heels in 2007. This year the organization has continued on it’s growth path to now include such sports as baseball and wrestling and events such as, exposure tournaments, and training camps.
